Since updating Windows 10 the last used printer becomes my default printer. How do I stop this?

Due to an update in Windows 10 ( Version 1511 or later ) the last printer you used will now become your default printer.

To stop this happening and to be able to change the default printer manually, follow these steps to turn off this feature:

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Click Settings

  3. Click Device

  4. Change the Let Windows Manage My Default Printer setting to Off by clicking the toogle button.
This will allow you to change the default printer manually. For more information on changing the default printer refer to Windows: How to set the printer as the default.
