Follow the instructions below to install a printer onto a computer running Windows 8, either from a downloaded driver or using the supplied Epson Software CD-ROM. If you are not sure how your product is supported on your operating system, refer to the article below before proceeding:
For USB printers you must install the printer software on the computer before you connect the USB cable to the printer, so please start this procedure with the USB cable disconnected from your printer. Follow the section below appropriate to the method you will use to install the printer driver.
Install from the Epson Software CD-ROM
Only connect the USB cable when instructed to do so during the software installation process.
If you have connected the USB cable, the above screen may appear. If this screen appears click on the Close button then disconnect the USB cable.
Insert the printer's Epson Software CD-ROM into the computer's CD drive.
If you receive a User Account Control warning, check that it is for the Epson program, and then click Continue (in some cases you may be prompted to enter your Windows user name and password).
If the CD doesn't automatically run the software setup, follow the below instructions to start the setup:
Move the mouse cursor to the bottom or top-right of the screen and click the Search icon (highlighted below) from the menu that appears.
Type Computer in the Search bar and press Enter.
The Computer screen will appear, double-click on the drive that mentions EPSON.
The installer screen opens. Here you can choose from a list which software you would like to install. Tick the relevant software and ensure the Use Latest Version option is selected then click Install.
The below message may appear, if you don't want to be prompted with similar messages in future, tick the Always trust software from "SEIKO EPSON Corporation" box and then click Install.
When the printer driver is installed you should see the prompt asking you to plug in the USB cable and power the printer on.
Plug the square end of the USB cable into the printer's USB port. Then plug the flat end into any available USB port on your computer. We do not recommend connecting the USB cable to the computer via a USB hub or USB extension cable as the printer may not work correctly.
After the USB cable has been connected, the driver software will continue to be installed and where applicable later driver versions are downloaded.
The firmware version is also checked at this point, if a later version is available the below screen will appear.
It is recommended to update the firmware to the latest version, read the on-screen instructions carefully and click Start to continue with the firmware update process.
If your product supports Epson Connect you may be presented with the below screen when the driver setup is complete. If you do not wish to setup any mobile printing services click Exit.
If you are installing your product for the first time, click Register and enter the requested details into the webpage you are re-directed to. If you have already registered your product or have just completed the registration process click Next.
Once the installation is complete you will be asked to restart your computer. To do so, click on Restart. (Alternatively, you can click on Finish to exit the installation, but you will then need to restart your PC manually to complete the installation.
