AcuLaser C1700 and AcuLaser M1400: My printer works well but the error and ready LEDs are on. Why?
This indicates that your product will require a service soon. Like so many other products, some Epson printing products have a finite life span due to component wear during normal use. At some point the product will reach a point where either satisfactory print quality cannot be maintained or components have reached the end of their usable life. This is normal operation for a sophisticated mechanical device.
The error and Ready LEDs are on. What does that mean? How can I check this?
Please refer to the follow table for information on the error messages:
Error and Ready LEDs are lit
This is a warning that the product will need to be serviced in the near future.
Printing will be possible until the components reach the end of their service life.
Error LED is flashing fast
This indicates a fatal error has occurred (e.g. fan error or fusing unit error) or parts inside the printer have reached the end of their service life.
Power off the product, wait one minute and power it back on. If the error message is still shown, contact Epson for advice.
When my printer has indicated this warning message (Ready LED and error LEDs are on). Can I check how many prints have been printed so far?
You can print out a System Settings report from the printer, to do this refer to the following article:
Is there a temporary fix to get my printer working for now?
No, the printer will require a service when the Error indicator is flashing.
How can I get it fixed?
Please contact Epson or an authorized Epson Service Centre for support and advice.
Will there be a charge for the repair?
The product will be serviced or, if necessary, replaced free of charge under the standard warranty terms. If the printer is outside of its warranty period, a chargeable out of warranty service or replacement may be available. Please contact Epson or an authorised Epson Service centre for support and advice.
Can I service my own printer?
Epson does not consider our printers to be user serviceable, due to the specific knowledge and training required to successfully disassemble, repair and reassemble the products to ensure personal safety.
At what point should a user expect to get to get this message?
Epson products are designed to last a significant amount of time. However, the length of time a printer can be used before this message occurs will vary depending on the usage of the printer.
Is there anything I can do to continue using my printer?
Please contact Epson or an authorised Epson Service Centre for support and advice.
Do you recycle any parts or products that require replacement?
The product will be serviced or, if necessary, replaced. Epson makes and effort to recycle our products when they reach the end of their useful life. We participate in customer friendly schemes set up in European countries as part of the WEEE directive. This can include collection or delivery of your Epson product to your municipal waste collection point, or remove of your product by a qualified organisation. Even during the design stage, efforts are made to minimise impact by reducing product size and weight and increasing the percentage of the product that is recyclable. Efforts are also made to simplify the recycling of products after they have been used.
