This article applies to Epson printers with an Epson driver designed for Vista or Windows 7, when connected via a USB or Parallel cable.
|
For USB printers you must install the printer software on the computer before you connect the USB cable to the printer. For Parallel printers, you should only connect the printer to the computer with both the printer and computer powered off. You can then power on the computer and install the software, but the printer should remain powered off until advised otherwise.
Follow the section below appropriate to the method you will use to install the printer driver.

For some printers, you will see the screen below. If you are connecting your printer to the computer with a USB or Parallel connection, select Local (Direct) then Next.
To do so, click on Restart or Restart now. (Alternatively, you can click on Exit or Finish to exit the installation, but you will then need to restart your PC manually to complete the installation.)
Install the printer driver. Do not power on the printer until the driver installation prompts you to do so. If you intend to use the printer via a Parallel cable connection, we recommend that you first connect the printer to the computer when both the computer and printer are powered off.
