How to download drivers and software from the Epson website

Many printer drivers, utilities and applications are available to download free of charge from the support pages of the Epson website. This article explains how to navigate the Epson website to locate and download them for your product. If your product is not listed on your local website please refer to the European website.

Note:
  • Some of the options available to you will vary depending on your operating system (e.g. Windows 10 or Mac OS X), or internet browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome or Safari).

  • File names will vary, as they are different for each product model. File types may also vary for different products and operating systems.

Tip:

If you are intending to install an Epson product, start with the product powered off.

  2. Once the Epson homepage has opened click on Support at the top of the page.

  3. Scroll down to Find your model
  4. Enter the name or the serial number of your Epson product and click Search.

    Tip:

As you type, the webpage will suggest one or more product matches. Click on the correct product from the list of alternatives, then click Search.

    Note:

  5. The Drivers & Manuals section will appear below. The webpage will automatically recognise your operating system, e.g. Windows 7 64-bit:

    • If the operating system shown is not correct, or you wish to find or download software for a different operating system, click on the drop-down menu and select the one you require.

Example: the Epson Expression Premium XP-225 and Windows 7 64-bit.

    • The webpage is split into two sections:
      • Drivers & Software
      • Manuals & Documentation

      Drivers & Software

The available options may include some or all of the following:

      • Product Setup

We recommend if available for your product that you download and install Epson Product Setup. Epson Product Setup contains everything you need to use your Epson product. The installer downloads and installs the latest driver software for your Epson product which may include (where applicable) printer drivers, network Wi-Fi drivers, scanner drivers and software.

As well as setting up your product to your Windows PC or Mac

If the Epson Product Setup tool is not available for your product continue to the section below.

      • Drivers

If the Epson Product Setup tool is not available for your product, we recommend that you download and install everything under this heading, but the following are required as a minimum to use your product with a computer:

Printers: you will need to download and install the Driver.

Scanners: you will need to download and install Epson Scan.

All-In-Ones: you will need to download both Epson Scan and the Driver. It is important to ensure that you install Epson Scan first.

      • Creativity Software, Other Software, ICC Profiles

These contain optional utilities and supporting files to help you get the most out of your product, but are generally not required to use it. For more information refer to your product's documentation.

      • Network Utilities

If you intend to use your product on a network and have not used the Epson Product Setup tool or it is not available for your product, we recommend downloading and installing all listed network utilities. Otherwise, your product may lack important functionality when networked.

      • Firmware

Firmware is software that runs in a printer, scanner, or other product and controls the functionality and user interface. Firmware updates may be required from time to time.

Downloading from the Epson Europe website

If your product is not listed on the UK website, please visit our European support website. Click here to open the Epson Europe Support portal, or open your Internet browser and type the following URL into the address box: http://esupport.epson-europe.com/en-EU

  1. Select your country from the drop-down menu.

    EPSON Europe Support

    Notes Icon Note:

Do not type the Epson web addresses into a search box.  Doing so will search the Internet for sites relating to Epson instead of taking you to the homepage referred to in the following pages.

  2. You will now be presented with three different drop down boxes: select a product range, select a product and select an OS (or operating system, in this case meaning your version of Windows). Make the appropriate selections for your product, and then click Confirm Selection.

In this example, the Product Range is All-In-One Products, the Product is the XP-820 and the OS is Windows Windows 7 64-bit.

  3. The next page is specific to your product, as shown below. Note that manuals and additional software are also available from this location. Click Drivers & Software:

    Drivers & Software

  4. The next page lists the drivers and software available to download for the product and OS you selected. Software is optional, whereas drivers are required to use your product with a computer.

    Note:

We recommend if available for your product that you download and install Epson Product Setup.

Epson Product Setup contains everything you need to use your Epson product. The installer downloads and installs the latest driver software for your Epson product

This may include (where applicable) printer drivers, network Wi-Fi drivers, scanner drivers and software.

As well as setting up your product to your Windows PC or Mac

If the Epson Product Setup tool is not available for your product continue to the section below.

    • To use a printer, you will need the Driver.
    • To use a scanner, you will need Epson Scan.
    • For All-In-One products, as printer and scanner drivers are two separate files, you will require both to use the scanning and printing features of your All-In-One product with a computer. Epson Scan must be downloaded and installed first to avoid any scanner communication issues.

If a driver is not listed, this may mean there isn't an Epson driver for the product. This may be attributed to any number of the reasons listed below:

    • If you are using Windows XP and no driver is listed, you may find that a Windows 2000 driver is available. This will work on a Windows XP system.

    • The product may not be compatible with the OS or the OS has an inbox driver.
    • If the last two digits of the printer's model name are either '05' or '50' (e.g. DX4450, RX425, R245) then try looking in the '00' ending equivalent such as the DX4400 or R240 as the drivers may be located there. These drivers are the same files required for the equivalent model.

      Notes Icon Note:

This applies to consumer Inkjet printers and All-In-One products only. This is not true for products such as scanners, laser printers, or large format printers.

  5. Click on Direct Download.

  7. You will now be asked where you want to save and name the file. Make sure the file is saved in a known location, the desktop is recommended for easy retrieval. It is also best to rename the file if multiple items are being downloaded to avoid confusion later. Click Save and the file will start to download.

  8. When the download is complete you are ready to install the driver. Close the download window.
