'Legacy System Extension' message when starting up my Mac
Applies To
- Operating Systems: macOS 15 (Sequoia)
Description
When starting up your macOS device, you might see a "Legacy System Extension" message.

This message is related to security and is designed to alert you about system extensions that may not be optimised for current or future macOS versions. It shouldn't impact the functionality of your Epson product. For more detail, see Apple's own support article.
Solution
If your Epson device is working as expected, no action is required — the message is for information only.
If you're experiencing difficulties with printing and/or scanning, make sure you've downloaded and installed the latest driver from the Epson Support website.
If no Epson driver is available for your device on macOS Sequoia, see Apple's guide on using Image Capture for basic scanning functions instead.
