How to perform automatic 2-sided printing with the Auto Duplexer in Mac OS X

RELATES TO:

  • Duplex printing
  • Epson devices with an Auto Duplexer installed or available as an option

EXPLANATION:

Automatic 2-sided printing is available for models with an Auto Duplexer installed. Depending on the model, the Auto Duplexer may be optional and not installed by default.

Note:
  • Mac OS X supports automatic standard 2-sided printing only. Manual 2-sided printing, where the Auto Duplexer is not used, and automatic booklet printing is not supported in Mac OS X.
  • 2-sided printing is only available for plain paper and the following sizes: US Letter, A4, B5.
  • This feature is not available with borderless printing - do not select a paper size with a 'borderless' option. This may vary depending on the model. If your Epson product has more than one paper cassette tray, make sure the correct paper Source is selected in your printing application.
  • Only use papers that are suitable for 2-sided printing. Otherwise, the printout quality may deteriorate. Depending on the paper and the amount of ink used to print text and images, ink may bleed through to the other side of the paper. The surface of the paper may be smeared during 2-sided printing.

As the Auto Duplexer is optional, only follow the instructions below if the Auto Duplexer is attached to the back of the printer.

Refer to your user's guide to install the Auto Duplexer. Then, verify that it is detected by the printer driver.

  1. Double-click the EPSON Printer Utility icon in the Applications folder in Macintosh HD. Select the printer from the Printer List, then click OK.

  2. Click the Printer and Option Information button.

  3. Make sure that Duplexer Installed is displayed in the Auto Duplex Printing Information section, and then click OK.

  4. If it is not listed:
    • Close the dialog box, power off the printer, and then follow the instructions in your User's Guide to reinstall the Auto Duplexer.
    • After reinstalling it, open Printer and Option Information from the EPSON Printer Utility again and click on the Refresh button.
    • Make sure that Duplexer Installed is displayed in the Auto Duplex Printing Information section before following the instructions below.

If the optional Auto Duplexer is not installed, you can perform manual 2-sided printing without it; refer to your user's guide for further instructions.
