  • Operating system messages

TABLE OF CONTENTS:

EXPLANATION:

The message indicates that Windows recognises that a USB 2.0 device (the Epson device, e.g. printer/scanner/All-In-One/Photoviewer) is connected to a USB 1.1 port. The message is not an error. You can close the message by clicking the  close icon in the right corner of the message title bar.

Message: HI-SPEED USB device Plugged into non-HI-SPEED USB hub
Alternate message: A HI-SPEED USB Device is plugged into a non-HI-SPEED USB Hub

Windows XP SP1 does not have USB 2.0 support by default. Windows XP SP2 and later does have USB 2.0 support by default. If your computer has USB 2.0 controllers on-board or installed, you will have to manually install the USB 2.0 Hi-Speed drivers via Device Manager, starting with the USB host controller.

To check if your system provides sufficient USB support, see the following article in the Related Articles section:

If you continue to receive this message, you could disable USB error detection if you no longer want Windows to report the message.
