How to access the printer utilities and check Status Monitor in Mac OS X

This article explains how to access and use EPSON Status Monitor in Mac OS X.

There are 4 different methods of accessing Status Monitor in Mac OS X. These are described below:

1. Print & Fax / Print & Scan / Printers & Scanners (10.3 - 10.11)

  1. Click on the Apple menu, and select System Preferences and open Print & Fax / Print & Scan / Printers & Scanners.

    Double-click on the Epson printer icon in the list:

  2. Click on the Utility icon. If prompted, select the printer from the Printer List, then click OK.

    For Snow Leopard (10.6), Lion (10.7), Mountain Lion (10.8 ) and Mavericks (10.9): click on Printer Setup / Settings. A screen opens on the General tab, click on the Utility tab and then click on Open Printer Utility.


  3. Click on the Status Monitor icon to open Status Monitor.

2. EPSON Printer Utility

  1. Double-click the EPSON Printer Utility/ Utility2/ Utility3 icon in the Applications folder in Macintosh HD. If prompted, select the printer from the Printer List, then click OK.

  2. The Utility window opens. Click on the Status Monitor icon to open Status Monitor.

3. Printer Setup Utility (10.3 - 10.5) or Print Center (10.1 - 10.2)

  1. Open the Printer Setup Utility from /Applications/Utilities. For 10.2/10.1, open the Print Center. The Printer List opens.

  2. Select your printer model and click the Utility icon (10.3 - 10.5). For (10.1 - 10.2), click on the Configure icon. If prompted, select the printer from the Printer List, then click OK.

  3. Click on the Status Monitor icon to open Status Monitor.

4. Printer driver shortcut (10.3 - 10.6)

This facility is not available in Mac OS X 10.2.8 or earlier, when the printer is shared.

  1. Click Print from your application's File menu.

  2. Choose Print Settings in the Print window that is displayed. For 10.4/10.3, you can select 'Print Settings' from the 'Copies & Pages' pull-down menu. For 10.6/10.5, you may need to click on the arrow beside the printer name to expand to the advanced menu, click on the application name (e.g. Text Edit, Preview, iPhoto), and then select 'Print Settings'.

  3. Click the Utility icon.
