The printer doesn't respond when I send a job to print or multiple copies of the driver are listed in the Printers folder. What should I do?
Printing does not complete
There is more than one copy of the Epson printer icon available to select
If there are multiple copies of the Epson printer driver in the Printers folder this indicates that a new copy of the printer driver has been added.
You may have found that printing with one driver is successful, but not with another copy of the driver. In this instance, you will need to set the most recent as the default printer and remove the earlier instance.
If you are using Windows XP and multiple instances of the printer driver appear due to Windows constantly redetecting the printer on start-up, there is an underlying issue with the operating system.
In the printers folder, set the most recent instance of the Epson printer driver as the default driver.
The screenshot below shows two instances of the driver for the same printer model in the printers folder. As (Copy 1) is the most recent instance of the driver, it should be set as the default printer:
Position the mouse cursor over the most recent copy of the driver.
Right-click on the Epson printer icon.
Left-click on Set as Default from the menu.
If there is another instance of the driver such as (Copy 2), this should be set as the default printer driver.
Always set the most recent instance as the default driver.
Check for and cancel the document queue for each instance of the Epson printer driver.
Right-click on the Epson printer icon. A menu will appear.
If there are no documents in the queue, Cancel All Documents will not be listed. Move to Step 4.
If there are documents in the queue, Cancel All Documents will be listed. Move to Step 3b.
Left-click on Cancel All Documents if listed in the menu for that driver.
Click Yes when prompted "Are you sure you want to cancel all documents for 'Epson xxxx'?"
Repeat this procedure for each instance of the Epson printer driver.
Close the Printers / Printers and Faxes / Devices and Printers folder and restart the computer.
Once restarted, open the Printers / Printers and Faxes / Devices and Printers folder.
Check that the status of the default printer driver is Ready before moving on to Step 4.
You set the default driver in Step 2 - it is indicated by a tick icon either above or beside the default printer driver. The status is normally indicated under or beside the printer icon.

If there are no documents listed and the printer appears Ready to print, test the new default driver by printing a Test Page.
Right-click on the default printer icon then left-click on Properties or Printer Properties (Windows 7 and Windows 8) from the menu.
