Five reasons you need sustainable displays from Epson
What makes Epson's display solutions the right choice for your business?
Being a sustainable and responsible business is a goal that many corporations take as seriously as their bottom line. Over here at Epson, we’re no different. For us, constantly striving to be a sustainable business is a commitment and a promise.
So we were overjoyed when 48 of our displays were TCO Certified. What does this mean? It means that, at every stage – from design through manufacture, use and end of life - Epson’s display solutions are built to be sustainable. For over 25 years, TCO Certified has successfully addressed the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges so this was a big deal for us.
But is it a big deal for our customers? Why should you, whether you’re a business owner, Head of IT or a Procurement Manager, actually care? What have we actually done to prove we are a sustainable business, thereby giving our customers a clear conscious when they choose our displays?
Well below we have given you five reasons why Epson’s display solutions were TCO-certified and why you should take notice.
1. We control our supply chain
All the core technologies built into our display solutions are designed and manufactured by Epson. Because everything is built in-house, our LCD panels and components are produced to the highest standards of social, environmental and corporate responsibility- all important criteria one has to meet to become TCO Certified.
2. We own our own factories
Because we are TCO Certified, you can sleep easy knowing if you purchase our display solutions, they have been manufactured under fair conditions. To put your mind even more at ease, we meet International Labour Organisation Core Conventions, and the UN Convention on Rights of the Child, worker rights, and health and safety.
In fact, we are so confident in the standards within our factories that we have opened up our production sites for independent inspection. This will be followed up by yearly spot checks and risk-based assessments.
3. We want to protect the environment
Our commitment to TCO Certified is part of a strategy aimed at reducing the environmental footprint of our products and this extends to our manufacturing methods too.
We’ve gone above and beyond to drastically lessen the environmental impact of our manufacturing. One of the ways we’ve done this is by reducing or eliminating heavy metals and hazardous substances, and increasing the percentage of recycled plastic content in our products.
Product efficiency is also a huge deal for us. Our display products have been designed to reduce environmental impact and minimise power consumption. For example, when one of our Epson’s Displays is idle, the Ultra-Low Brightness mode reduces power consumption.
4. End user satisfaction is crucial to us
But just because we’re big on IT sustainability, doesn’t mean we skimp on end user satisfaction.
Part of being TCO Certified is ensuring that the usability of our products for end users is considered at all times. Sustainability isn’t a substitute for performance. To give you an example, when projecting content, Epson’s Light Optimiser function on some of our displays automatically adjusts lamp brightness based on projected image to adjust to the room lighting.
5. We offer take back schemes
Part of what allowed Epson to become TCO Certified was the fact we have implemented a take-back scheme. We practice responsible recycling which means that we included a recycling strategy as early as the planning stages of our products that are sold in Europe.
