Epson and the European Athletic Association (EAA)
As a record-breaker in the world of technology, Epson's sponsorship of the European Athletic Association's prestigious calendar of track and field events is a natural partnership.
Epson's involvement with the European Athletic Association (EAA) began in 2000 and has continued to grow since then. As an Official Technical Partner of the EAA, Epson provides support that is vital to the success of the events, including commentator and media information systems, products and technical expertise.
CIS (Commentator Information System)
Competition information essential for television commentators is provided through Epson multimedia data terminals placed in the broadcasting and press seating area. The touch-screen panels operate on an intranet-based system, enabling broadcasters and other media personnel to access the main server in the computer room to obtain not only start lists and results on a real-time basis, but also competition schedules, past records, and the backgrounds of individual athletes.
About the EAA
The first European Championships were staged in Torino in 1934, when the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) decided to establish a European Committee to review conditions for the organisation of European events. Since 1970, this committee has been known as the European Athletic Association (EAA).
As one of the six continental groups of the IAAF, the EAA is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation consisting of national European Athletics Federations. The EAA organises championships and other events that contribute to the development of the sport in Europe and draws on a blend of professional and voluntary personnel.
