Epson® launches the feature-rich EMP-1825 certified for Windows Vista*, ideal for business use

Providing flexible, high-quality presentation and multimedia content delivery and Windows Vista™ Network Projector compatibility, Epson’s innovative new projector addresses the needs of businesses looking to combine usability with high performance.

29th January 2008 – Worldwide leader in projector manufacturing Epson has launched the EMP-1825; a versatile, easy-to-use, high-end projector with innovative features designed to deliver outstanding functionality and quality. The projector fits seamlessly within any working environment and has been specially engineered alongside Microsoft® to offer compatibility with the Windows VistaTM Network Projector function for easy wireless and wired connectivity. This function ensures the projector can be connected wirelessly within a few seconds from the Windows VistaTM  Start menu without the need to install any software.

Graeme Davidson, Product Manager at Epson UK, commented: “The EMP-1825 has been designed to include every feature a business user could want to aid them in delivering a professional, seamless presentation regardless of the unique IT infrastructure of its surroundings.

“The projector’s easy-to-use wireless connectivity removes the need for cables even when transmitting videos with sound. Set-up times and adjustment issues are of paramount concern for business users, especially when on the move, so the EMP-1825 will create a perfectly proportioned, sharp-focussed image within six seconds at the touch of a button.“

In addition to the connectivity provided through Windows VistaTM Network Projector functionality, the EMP-1825 can also be connected to a local area network (LAN) via RJ45 or wirelessly using EasyMP®.This technology has been exclusively developed by Epson to offer enhanced network functionality. Its functions are available on several operating systems including Windows 2000, Windows XP and even Mac OSX. The multi-screen display functionality, also included with the EasyMP software, enables several projectors to be used to present from just one computer, creating larger, panoramic or split-screen displays. This is ideal for presentations to larger audiences or where a range of supporting information needs to be displayed.

A primary concern of business users when using wireless technology is data security. To address this, Epson has equipped the EMP-1825 with simplified WPS procedure and provided support for the latest 802.11x protocols such as WEP, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, EAP (WPA), EAP (Cisco), to ensure no data can be stolen over the air waves. The physical security of the projector itself has also been addressed with the inclusion of a Kensington lock connection and security bar.
The projector features PC free flexibility so that users can display multi-media content directly from a USB key or Compact Flash memory card. In this way the projector is capable of reading most file formats including videos in MPEG2, MPEG4, and WMV, meaning content can be downloaded and played directly from the internet. Furthermore, data can be saved and edited on a Compact Flash card connected to the projector via the network connection. This is perfect for standalone presentations, photo slideshows, or movie display.

If content is displayed from an attached memory device, from a computer connected by USB cable or via wireless, users have the added advantage of being able to control page up and page down on presentations using the remote control included with the projector.

Epson EasyMP network monitoring technology allows the projector to be configured and operated remotely over the network, giving advance notice of any potential maintenance required, eliminating the expense, inconvenience and time spent solving any problems after they occur. A web browser generates email alerts and provides essential information including the temperature status or when air filters or projector lamps need to be changed. This ensures the maintenance person is aware of the problem before they visit the projector. The system can even be configured to send a ‘lamp-life warning’ message to the person responsible for purchasing so they can ensure they order a new lamp in readiness. The same EasyMP technology can also be used to remotely power on and off individual projectors or the whole fleet as required or at a pre-programmed time. This ensures that projectors are not left running overnight wasting energy and using up lamp hours.

Despite being packed with extensive features, the EMP-1825 weighs only 3.1kg making it easy to transport or ceiling mount. Quality has not been compromised either - the bright 3500 ANSI lumens E-TORL lamp employs 3LCD technology to ensure perfect colour reproduction and bright natural pictures even in large and well-lit rooms. The Epson exclusive Twin Optimised Reflecting Lamp (E-TORL), ensures optimum energy efficiency, providing both cost savings and environmental benefits. E-TORL technology ensures the Epson EMP-1825 delivers exceptionally bright and sharp images by effectively eliminating light leakage and minimising light diffraction. Additionally the EMP-1825 requires no cool down time and incorporates Direct Power On and Off functions that allow users to switch the device off at the wall after use without waiting.

The EMP-1825 will be launched at the ISE Fair in Amsterdam on 29th January, 2008.
