Epson® brings speed, quality and efficiency to office printing with the new AcuLaser M4000

The rapid and reliable AL-M4000 combines industry-leading print speeds  with outstanding quality and advanced functionality to become Epson’s quickest laser printer ever!

11th April 2008 Epson, renowned for developing high quality printers tailored to the demands of the modern office, has today announced that it will be adding a new high-specification printer to its popular AcuLaser business printer range. The AcuLaser M4000 series is capable of delivering up to 43 pages per minute, even at full 1200 dpi resolution, with a first page out time of 8 seconds. As Epson’s highest specification mono laser printer, the AL-M4000 delivers optimum time efficiency for businesses, combined with heavy-duty printing up to 200,000 pages per month.

Mark Karsey, Business Manager at Epson UK said: “The AL-M4000 can be left to handle multiple large print runs without the need for user intervention, making it the perfect print solution for the most demanding businesses. Speed and reliability are the two biggest concerns for businesses with high print volumes, and the AL-M4000 performs exceptionally on both fronts.

“With the AL-M4000, business users will know that when they send a job to print, it will be completed in a short space of time, to a high quality, regardless of document size or complexity – this was the primary driver behind our development of the AL-M4000.”

Alongside the standard model, there is a M4000DN duplex version and a M4000DTN duplex version, which incorporates an additional paper cassette. The addition of a second paper tray increases capacity from the standard 700 sheets – 550 sheets in the main tray and a 150 sheet MP tray – to 1,800 sheets. All models of the AL-M4000 series also support an optional document stacker to sort and separate different jobs; another benefit for busy offices.

The AL-M4000 is highly reliable and offers a toner cartridge print yield of up to 20,000 pages. This means they have to be replaced less frequently, reducing usage costs to a minimum and simplifying maintenance. Ease of use is further enhanced thanks to the AL-M4000’s large LCD display, which provides users with graphical instructions on carrying out routine maintenance work and a bookmark function for easy access to frequently used menu functions.

Other additional features include space for RAM expansion from the standard 64MB to 576MB, which benefits businesses that want to print larger and more complex documents. Through an optional hardware plug-in on the TypeB port, the EpsonNet Authentication Print system can also be enabled. This helps keep documents secure by requiring users to swipe a card at the print station before print-outs are released.

The AL-M4000 uses genuine Adobe PostScript 3tmemulation to ensure accuracy, and also provides support for PCL6, PCL5e, PDF 1.3 and ESC/Page as standard. Connectivity options include standard Ethernet, high-speed USB 2.0, parallel interface and optional Type B interface.

Customers purchasing the new AL-M4000 series laser printers are being offered an incentive to engage in Epson’s Return&Recycle programme. They can benefit from a significant discount on the retail price of AL-M4000 toner cartridges. The discounted cartridges contain a clearly-marked legal agreement on the packaging, meaning that once the seal of the product packaging is broken, the user has committed to return the cartridge into Epson’s recycling programme when empty. Those who do not wish to partake in the programme can still purchase non-discounted cartridges at the full retail price.

Epson’s Return& Recycle programme encourages users of a Epson laser printers to recycle the used toner cartridges. Large organisations can visit the Epson website to order a reusable branded recycle-box made from recycled materials, which can hold up to 30 laser toner cartridges. Empty toner cartridges are placed in the box, and once it is full, offices simply contact Epson via the Epson website and the recycle box will be collected. Smaller organisations can use a free-of-charge postal service; quickly downloading a barcode label from the Epson website then simply sticking it onto the toner box before posting. Epson takes care of all postage costs.

Epson’s Return&Recycle programmes can be accessed via the dedicated website: www.epson.co.uk/collect_recycle. Epson’s toner cartridges are manufactured using fully recyclable materials. The collected cartridges are  transported efficiently to the European recycling hub where the components are recycled, ensuring optimal re-use of all the different materials.
