The Epson Stylus D120 – small, stylish and speedy
As with most businesses today, colour printing plays an essential role in SVM’s operations. For SVM, this role is principally defined by the company’s need to produce large format project drawings, but the company also has a highly active marketing function, as well as a busy administrative department – and it was in this latter area that the consulting engineering company found the Epson Stylus D120 so useful.
“As a company, we have a routine need to print a wide range of colour documents,” said Melanie Sewell-Rutter, Legal Adviser and Personnel Manager, “ranging from straightforward client letters, through spreadsheets, to PowerPoint presentations. Naturally, in a working environment, productivity is a key factor, so print speed is an important issue, as is ease of use. We wanted a printer which offered the blend of quality, speed and user-friendliness that’s essential in a busy administrative department.”
Did the Epson Stylus D120 deliver? Definitely, according to Melanie. And, having had a unit close by for an extended period, she was in a good position to judge. “As I deal with personnel files, privacy is critical, so it was extremely useful to have a printer on my desk, under my own control. The product has a very small footprint, so it didn’t intrude - and it’s stylish too, which was a bonus. I’m particularly surprised – and impressed - with its speed, which compares favourably with our laser printers.”
But this wasn’t all. SVM is conscious of its carbon footprint, both in its designs and within the office environment, so the Stylus D120’s energy efficiency – it uses just 15 Watts in active mode - was appealing. “We do as much as we can, across all aspects of our business, to reduce our environmental impact, and every little helps. While it’s true that I’m not sure how other printers compare with the Stylus D120, the fact that the Epson product uses so little electricity – equivalent to just a quarter of a light bulb – must make it one of the most energy-efficient on the market.”
In short, SVM was clearly impressed with the Epson Stylus D120. By providing a low-cost, easy-to-use colour capability at a point of need, there was a clear and significant benefit. “Small, stylish and very useful,” summarised Melanie – “even changing an ink cartridge was quick and easy!”
