The Epson Stylus D120 printer – high-quality, compact and cost-effective
As every parent knows, young children are voracious consumers of adult time. So, when you’re responsible for as many as 120 of them, you’re grateful for everything and anything that makes more time available – even something as unlikely as a printer. Yet it was a printer – the Epson Stylus D120, to be precise - that helped Pooh Corner to free up enough time to provide an even more personal service to parents.

As a busy childcare facility, Pooh Corner regularly prints a wide range of documents, from confidential correspondence and parent notices, to daily menus and staff information sheets. And one of the most time-consuming of these printing tasks was the production of parent invoices – typically 110 each month. At least, it was one of the most time-consuming tasks. Now, according to Cathy Sykes, Nursery Proprietor, the job is done in significantly less time. ”I’d estimate that, with the Epson printer, we cut the time spent on invoicing by as much as 50%,” she said, “which is an extremely valuable time saving. The printer’s speed helps us do our daily registration more quickly, so I can get out of the office earlier each morning to check in with staff and greet parents as they arrive.”

And there are other ways in which the blistering speed of the Stylus D120 has helped Pooh Corner further enhance the award-winning service it provides. Take worksheets, for example. Before the Stylus D120 arrived, staff typically printed a single copy of a child’s worksheet, then photocopied it for the multiple copies they needed - an approach which resulted in less-than-ideal reproduction quality. Now, however, staff can have as many copies as they like, quickly and inexpensively, while maintaining the quality they need. And yet another benefit of the Stylus D120’s colour quality is the ability to print a child’s work and either send it home with the parents or include it in individual development folders.

But it’s not just the speed and quality of the Stylus D120 which has impressed Pooh Corner. There is also its energy efficiency. “I’m not sure that sensitivity to environmental issues is – understandably – very high on the priority list of most prospective parents,” said Cathy, “but, as a forward-thinking, caring company it’s important that we’re seen to take steps where we can. Using the Epson Stylus D120 is just such a step – and it cuts our costs, too!”

Currently, Pooh Corner has only one Stylus D120. Will the nursery invest in more? Almost certainly. “We’re seriously thinking of purchasing an additional printer for each age group area of the nursery” said Cathy “This will mean staff won’t have to wait until their lunch break or the end of the day to print, which will mean – thankfully! - less of a queue in the office.”
