Pilling Motor Group and the D120

About the Pilling Motor Group
Pilling Motor GroupEstablished in 1946, the Pilling Motor Group is now a leading UK motor dealer, holding franchises of Volvo & Land Rover, Skoda, Mazda and Citroën. The company is committed to minimising environmental impact, and is an enthusiastic supporter of Volvo’s UK-wide Practical Environmental Projects (PEP) programme for schools and community youth groups.

The Epson Stylus D120 – a superb productivity booster

When you work for one of the busiest and most successful motor dealerships in the country, saving time can bring real benefits. So when you discover a product that not only speeds up routine tasks, but adds quality, you’re likely to be both pleased and impressed. This was certainly the case at the Pilling Group, after being introduced to the Epson Stylus D120.

The various branches of the Pilling group print a variety of documents, from sales agreements and status reports to quotes and orders. The company also likes to run regular marketing activities, targeting local businesses. None of these activities are difficult to do, but they all take time, and – as David Dower, the company’s Group Corporate Sales Manager, pointed out – time is a precious commodity. “We tend to print most internal documents, as well as external letters, in mono,” he said, “simply because it’s quicker. And, because it can be time consuming to produce high-quality colour marketing materials, we don’t do as much of this as we’d ideally like. The speed and quality of the Epson Stylus D120, though encourages us to use colour much more often.”

Although the Pilling Group still prints internal administrative documents in mono, all external documents now carry a professional touch of colour, in elements such as the company logo. And marketing activities generally are more frequent and more engaging. “It’s really the Epson printer that has prompted us to do this,” continued David, “as it’s much quicker both for colour and mono prints than other inkjet office printers. In fact, it’s as quick, or quicker, as any of the office lasers we have. But – and I confess I am surprised at this – this speed isn’t at the expense of quality. I’m extremely impressed with the print quality, especially in photo-print mode.”

And there are other benefits, too. The Pilling Group is committed to minimising its impact on the environment, and even employs a full-time environmental coordinator, in recognition of the fact that measures such as efficient waste disposal and regular monitoring of energy consumption has
direct environmental and business benefits – as well as being a moral obligation for all individuals and businesses. “The energy-efficiency of the Stylus D120 is a small, but important, contribution to our overall environmental policy,” said David. ”After all, it’s the cumulative effect of small savings that makes a big difference.”

So, how would David sum up his view of the Epson Stylus D120? “It’s definitely a printer I’d recommend to any business, small or large, looking for a fast, easy-to-use desktop personal printer that’s capable of delivering excellent colour quality. It’s outstanding value for money, and – as we’ve discovered – it’s a great enabler and productivity booster.”
