Epson's new Stylus CX5400 all-in-one device is one of the fastest, flexible and most cost-efficient on the market today. Aimed at the home-office and small business user the Stylus CX5400 is ideal for those seeking cost-effective, space saving methods of producing quality output in the home.

15 th September 2003: The Epson Stylus CX5400 combines the very latest in Epson print, scan and copy technologies to bring exceptional quality output and speed to the home and small office. Replacing the popular Stylus CX5200, this latest addition to Epson's all-in-one range incorporates a high-speed print engine, a high-resolution scanner and standalone copier function. Users also benefit from Epson's latest DURABriteT ink technology that delivers high quality output on a wide variety of media, including more cost efficient plain and recycled paper.

The Stylus CX5400's improved print engine prints up to 22ppm black economy and 11ppm colour. The print quality is also impressive. Colour images can be printed at an unrivalled 5760 optimised dpi, while individual Epson DURABrite ink cartridges guarantee that output is sharp, water and smudge proof and fade resistant for up to 70 years*. The Stylus CX5400 also offers good print flexibility. Border-free printing on A4 media, enabling the Stylus CX5400 user to print everything from high detail photographs to reports and presentations.

The device also boasts a high-end flatbed scanner for capturing documents, images and photographs to file. An advanced CCD optical sensor enables a maximum print resolution of 1200 x 2400dpi ensuring output is of the highest quality no matter how fine the detail.

For maximum flexibility, the Stylus CX5400 features a standalone copier function that allows users to photocopy documents without turning on their computer. By coupling the high performance print engine with the device's scanner, copies are guaranteed to be fast and accurate.

Epson's ® new digital photo album signals a new era of digital photo sharing

With a high definition display, 10GB hard disk and support for photo printing and CD writing, the new PhotoPC P-1000 Photo Viewer from Epson delivers a flexible way of viewing digital photos and images.

Launch Date 1 st November 2003 - The PhotoPC P-1000 from Epson is the company's first entry into the mobile imaging market. Aimed at digital photo enthusiasts and professional photographers, the PhotoPC P-1000 utilises Epson's latest LCD and display technologies to deliver a new method of viewing high definition photos and images on the move.

The PhotoPC P-1000 has a 3.8" LTPS LCD screen capable of displaying 260,000 colours for viewing high definition images and photos in crisp vibrant colour. With a screen resolution of 640 x 480 the PhotoPC P-1000 is ideal for digital photographers needing to view high-resolution images direct from their camera. In addition, the PhotoPC P-1000 has a Video-out connection and supports NTSC and PAL format for viewing output on a television or a projector.

To offer users maximum flexibility the PhotoPC P-1000 has a 10GB hard disk capable of storing over 7500 high-resolution photos. The device also has an integrated CF/Micro Drive card slot and supports Memory Stick, Smart Media, MMC and SD memory cards via an optional adapter, for viewing or transferring images direct from a digital camera. The PhotoPC P-1000 supports the Jpeg file format, a standard amongst digital camera users.

The PhotoPC P-1000 comes with an Epson Graphical User Interface enabling users to manage their images in digital photo albums and run slideshows with transition effects. Users can also change the way they view files and control the behaviour of the PhotoPC P-1000 through the intuitive GUI.

USB support is installed into the PhotoPC P-1000 for fast uploads and downloads, printing and CD writing. In addition, PhotoPC DIRECT print is available for printing on a wide range of Epson photo printers directly from the device, without the need for a PC. Prints are also perfectly reproduced in hard copy thanks to the support of PRINT Image Matching. Using the one-touch print button, users can print borderless photographs, whole albums or a photo index on a range of paper of 4x6", 5x7", 10x15" or A4 size. The PhotoPC P-1000 also has support for external USB CDR and CDRW drives for direct reading from and writing to CDs.

Epson Europe has new Chairman and President

Amsterdam, 15th October, 2003 - Seiko Epson, a global leader in colour imaging, has announced the promotion of Ramon Ollé to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Epson Europe B.V., its regional Headquarters for EMEA. Eiji Ide, Seiko Epson's General Manager for Marketing and Sales, is nominated Chief Operating Officer and President. Ide has previously served the Company for several years in Europe as Managing Director of Epson UK Ltd. The new appointments are effective as from 21 st October.

Having joined Epson in 1985 as President of Epson Iberica, Ramon Ollé was appointed Executive Vice-President of Epson Europe B.V. in 2000 and became President in 2001. He is also a 'standing director' of the Japan-based Seiko Epson Corporation. Ollé has an engineering and telecommunications background and holds business management diplomas from world-renowned universities including Stanford and Harvard. Ollé has a deep interest in Japanese culture as well as in cross-cultural relationships.

With regard to his new appointment, Ollé says, "As technology shapes our future more and more, it is our increasing challenge to balance Epson's innovative strategies and leadership with social and environmental responsibilities and respect. I am proud of our multinational staff and strong management team here in Europe and am confident that as a team we will continue to build our presence and market share in EMEA by taking the many opportunities that this exciting new era in telecommunications and broadcasting is opening up."

 


Epson® launches first standalone printer with premium photo printing capabilities

The Epson Stylus Photo R300 brings long lasting premium photo quality printing and a range of innovative standalone and printing functionalities to the experienced and recently converted digital camera user. The Stylus Photo R300 allows the user to print photos, personalise CD’s and store their images without the need for a PC.

October 15, 2003: The Stylus Photo R300 is the first standalone long lasting premium quality photo printer to enter the market. Giving users more flexibility than ever before, this standalone device is compatible with the widest selection of digital cameras on the market and can store images direct to a compatible CD-R or Zip® Drive without having to be connected to a PC. The unique printing functionalities and range of innovative features makes it ideal for both the experienced digital photographer looking for the highest quality photo output. It is also suitable for the amateur user requiring the ease and convenience of standalone printing. The Stylus Photo R300 monitor version offers the same functionality but comes with a 2.5” LCD colour Preview monitor as standard in the box

The Stylus Photo R300 comes complete with a new printer engine for high-speed output, producing a 10x15cm photo in less than one minute, all at a premium resolution of 5760*x1440dpi – even in standalone mode. In addition a new MicroPiezo™ print head technology, 90 nozzles per colour (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Light Cyan, Light Magenta, Yellow), guarantees high definition lab style photos and dramatically faster throughput.

A droplet size of 3pl means users can expect smoother, finer detail and when combined with 5760*x1440dpi photos will be printed in exceptional quality. Six new individual ink cartridges with high durability, air, water and lightfast ink also guarantee long lasting output and make the Stylus Photo R300 extremely cost efficient. Cost efficiency is also extended to Epson’s range of media with the introduction of a 50-sheet pack of Epson’s Premium Photo Glossy Paper.

The Stylus Photo R300 also allows you to connect a CD-R drive, ideal for storing, personalising and sharing images, data and music files.

Offering maximum flexibility, the Stylus Photo R300 supports the latest direct print industry standards including PictbridgeÔ technology and USB DIRECT-PRINT, making the device compatible with the widest range of digital cameras available on the market today. Improved memory card support means the device can support today’s – and tomorrows - most popular memory card types, without the need for any special adapters. Photos can be selected from a memory card or external CD-Rom drive connected to the second USB port, and printed and edited at the touch of a button. Advanced formatting features are available without having to switch on a computer.

A new LCD user interface comes as standard for easy selection of images. Controlling the many functions of the printer, the display has been designed for intuitive operation for non-technology literate users. With a text style display, the new interface takes the user step by step through the image selection and layout process in an easy to follow format.

Optional Bluetooth® functionality also supports users’ wireless connectivity needs – enabling direct printing of images captured on compatible mobile phones and from digital cameras. For longer range communication and networking between devices the printer also supports wireless LAN 802.11b. This allows higher bandwidth data to be transferred faster and can be used to transfer higher resolution images between users. This functionality requires the optional EpsonNet 802.11b wireless external print server and connection is via a USB interface.

The Stylus Photo R300 has a compact silver and black design and its enhanced standalone functionality includes a new set of dedicated preset buttons: one for direct save to CD-R and one for default to 10x15cm PGPP print settings. The printer also comes with built in Epson Print Image Framer technology and borderless printing capability.

New mid-range projector from Epson ® delivers big screen performance in the comfort of your own home

The EMP-TW200 is packed with features to provide a high-quality home cinema experience. New features include high-resolution panels, D4 digital input, power zoom and focus and horizontal and vertical keystone lens shift.

October 2003 : The Epson EMP-TW200 is the new mid-range home cinema projector from Epson. It features Epson's advanced D4 LCD panels and offers a contrast ratio of 800:1. Combined with a brightness level of 1300 ANSI lumens the new projector is an ideal solution for any home cinema enthusiast.

Image quality is enhanced with the introduction of a colour management technology called Colour Reality II. In addition the Epson Cinema Colour Editor technology provides five ranges of colour mode s for different environments. These include dynamic, living room, natural, theatre and sRGB. These modes fully integrate the cinema filter and lamp power setting, providing simple selection.

The built-in cinema filter vastly enhances black levels, improving the contrast ratio and without effecting the dynamic range. Users also benefit from a 0.7" wide LCD for ease of use and a highly precise full 10-bit drive and 1280 x 720 pixels. A 1.5 powered zoom and focus highlight the most intricate of details with acute accuracy.

The projector has a horizontal and vertical lens shift and vertical keystone correction therefore is capable of projecting an optimum image from a wide range of installed positions. Viewers can sit in front of the screen without obstructing the image projection.

Furthermore the screen can be resized without any distortion of images due to the addition of a natural image-scaling filter and a new image processor.

The EMP-9300 features high-resolution of SXGA+ (1400 x 1050), together with 1.4" LCD panels with powered lens and zoom, as well as a powered lens shift for ease of use.

Designed to keep IT simple, Epson has provided users of this new projector with a multitude of features, giving them the versatility needed for today's mixed-use environments. Clear projections are guaranteed with a high contrast ratio (1100:1), which ensures clarity whilst no-compromise presentation imaging modes including; business-graphics, theatre-colour, video and super-bright optimise delivery of the projectors 2500 ANSI Lumens output.

Key features include:

  • Wide Correctable Angle Keystone - this feature enables a perfect image to be projected even when the projector is offset from the screen. With straightforward use via an on screen menu, Epson Quick Corner Ò can compensate for an incredible range of installation angles up to + / - 45° vertical and + / - 20° horizontal.
  • Effect function - the projector has a "pointer", "straight line" and "free line" effects. These effects can be operated from remote control so that the user can select the pointer size, colour, type and line width.
  • Multi Screen Adjustment Application - a PC application that enables the user to adjust the colour, brightness and gamma curve line. This is beneficial when adjusting multiple projectors.
  • Direct Power ON - This part of the "Quick Set-Up" concept. When this setting is enabled, the lamp comes on automatically when the power is supplied, for example, when the A/C cable is connected.

Security is a key factor for many businesses and users. The three security modes available with the Epson EMP-9300 include:

  • Operation Lock - if this is activated a user is unable to operate the projector, and so prevents unauthorised use.
  • User Logo Lock - users can set a 'user log' which means without their password / user logo the projector cannot be operated (and password cannot be changed)
  • Timer Limited Function - provides the ability to set a usage time (which cannot be changed unless user password is entered)

Epson ® delivers the ultimate home cinema experience

With fine detail, colour reproduction and image enlargement, the EMP-TW500 is Epson's new flagship product in its home projector range. The EMP-TW500 incorporates Epson's latest optical technology to deliver a projector designed specifically for home cinema.

October 2003: The EMP-TW500 has been designed and developed for maximum cinematic impact and is the ideal solution for the serious audio-visual equipment buyer. It sits at the top of the Epson range and will launch in December 2003.

The EMP-TW500 is rated at 1000 ANSI lumens and will project a 16:9 widescreen image up to 300-inches in size with no loss of picture quality. This is thanks to its advanced Epson D4, 0.7" wide LCD panels and wide-XGA high-resolution format (1280 x 720 dpi). Crisp and vibrant images are delivered with a combination of a 10-bit colour processing power and ColorReality II Technology, Epson's 2 nd generation colour management technology.

The EMP-TW500 includes the Epson Cinema Colour Editor technology, which improves colour reproduction by enhancing the dark levels and heightening the overall contrast ratio giving the user a true cinema experience. A choice of six colour modes also ensures that users can maximise quality according to personal choice or application.

As the most advanced projector in the Epson home cinema range, the EMP-TW500 features a cinema filter, lamp power and an electronic iris. Cinema filter is automatically set at Colour Mode selection, while lamp power and iris together can be changed seamlessly. It also includes the latest Faroudja DCDi advanced image processor, which ensure images are sharp and crisp with no 'staircasing' or jagged edges .

A 1.5x powered zoom and focus ensure that the EMP-TW500 can project an 80" image from between 2.4m - 3.6m. A horizontal and vertical lens shift and vertical keystone correction mean that from a wide range of positions the EMP-TW500 is capable of projecting an optimum image at all times, viewers can easily sit in front of the screen without obstructing the image projection.
